Throughout our efforts in automotive shipping, industrial shipping and break bulk shipping we are constantly striving to evolve our ESG practices and increase our sustainability worldwide. This is an endeavour that doesn’t just affect the operations of a single branch of NYK but rather a worldwide endeavour encompassing multiple branches of the organisation. So in February 2021, NYK released The NYK Group ESG Story as a way to address this important subject holistically.
The NYK Group ESG Story outlines the Group’s ESG management and provides concrete initiatives and the Group is pursuing to integrate ESG principles with management strategies, as specified in the Group’s medium-term management plan announced in March 2018.
In March 2022, The NYK Group ESG Story 2022 was issued as a progress report to follow up on the original story.

Our responsibility as an international shipping organisation is to use that access to developing nations to assist and elevate them in their development journey. We implemented the Sail GREEN initiative to ensure that we stay on track with our environmental goals. We are dedicated to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, we provide low-emissions services across multiple sectors and we provide automotive terminals powered by renewable energy on our LNG-powered car carriers. We’re also ensuring we contribute to eco-friendly supply chains to keep us accountable to our goals.
